Young left-sided wing back Alfie Doughty came through Charlton Athletic’s youth system before heading north to the bet365 Stadium in January 2021.

Born just three miles from The Valley, he joined the Addicks’ academy at the age of eight, and made steady progress until his debut arrived in the EFL Cup away to Milton Keynes Dons in August 2018.

Two loan spells, to seventh-tier Kingstonian and fifth-tier Bromley, followed before he established himself as a regular starter for Charlton, playing 29 times, but was unable to help the club avoid relegation.

He made seven more appearances in League One to begin the 2020/21 season, before moving on to the Potteries two months later, making his debut on the opening day of the 2021/22 campaign at home to Reading.
