Bio
After rising through the youth ranks at Dundee United, Harry Souttar joined Stoke City in September 2016.
A young and promising defender, Souttar made his first career start for the Tangerines towards the end of the 2015/16 Scottish Premiership season, scoring his first goal for the club just four days after his debut.
The strapping centre half made his first appearance for the Potters during the 2017/18 season, appearing in the 4-0 win against Rochdale in the EFL Cup. Souttar made his full Potters debut in September 2018 during an EFL Cup clash with Nottingham Forest, before spending the second half of the 2018/19 season on loan at Fleetwood Town.
He returned to Highbury in the summer of 2019, spending the whole campaign with Joey Barton’s side as they reached the League One play-offs. It was during the 2019/20 campaign that Souttar scored twice on his debut for the Australian national side in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier. He has made scoring for the Socceroos quite a knack, hitting six goals in 10 appearances.
Since returning to the bet365 Stadium in 2020, he has been a mainstay at the back. In his first season back with the Potters he featured 43 times in all competitions.
Souttar continued his form into the 2021/22 campaign, before he sustained a season-ending cruciate ligament injury in November whilst on international duty.
After working his way back to fitness and returning in the penultimate fixture before the 2022 World Cup, the centre half travelled to the finals in Qatar and helped the Socceroos reach the knockout stages.
