Jacob Brown has seen it all in his relatively short career. After impressing Barnsley whilst playing against the Tykes for Guiseley, he was snapped up by the Yorkshire club in 2015. The year that followed saw him make his debut for Barnsley against Brentford in the autumn of 2016.

He continued to show his talent with the Under-23s and got a loan move to then League Two side Chesterfield for six months in January 2018. It was a season to forget for Spireites’ fans as they fell out of the Football League, but the relegation and 13 appearances gave Brown some valuable experience.

The Halifax local returned to Barnsley and was utilised predominantly as a winger and won the January EFL Young Player of the Month award in 2019. After the bitter taste of relegation the season prior, Brown got to have the sweeter taste of promotion with the Tykes to the Championship. On the route to the second division, the attacker scored eight times in 38 appearances.

Brown coped with the step-up exceptionally well, notching nine assists to help Barnsley dramatically escape relegation, before the Potters made their move during the summer of 2020.

He scored his first goal for the Club in a 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the EFL Cup, and was a main part of the squad during his maiden season in North Staffordshire, playing 46 times.

The 2021/22 season has turned out to be an historic one for Brown as his form for the Potters earned him a call up to the Scotland national side in the November international break and made his debut for Steve Clarke’s side against Moldova.
