Leo Ostigard was just 16 years old when he told his then manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, that he should be playing for first-team football for Norwegian side Molde.
His direct approach worked as that summer Solskjaer included him in his plans for a pre-season training camp in Spain and ultimately triggered a loan move to Second Division side Viking.
It was there that he produced a number of eye-catching displays and Brighton & Hove Albion won the race to secure his services, signing him on a three-year deal in 2018.
He is still waiting to make his debut for Graham Potter’s side but has continued his development with a series of loan moves away from the Amex Stadium – the latest of which will see him spend the 2021/22 season at the bet365 Stadium.
Ostigard spent the season before last season with Bundesliga 2 side St. Pauli, making 28 league appearances and scoring once.
The Championship was his next port of call as he spent last term on loan with Coventry City where he made 39 appearances, scoring twice, and established himself as a key figure as they secured safety.
Ostigard has also won international recognition, playing for Norway at every age level from Under-16 through to Under-21.
