Nineteen-year-old Irish centre-back Okagbue joined the Potters in summer 2020 from north Dublin-based youth club St Kevin’s Boys. He made his competitive Under-18 debut against Burnley in September 2020, and went on to start five matches as Under-18 captain in the latter stages of the 2020/21 season. Okagbue also made his Under-21 bow against West Bromwich Albion as a right-back in April 2021.

He went on to make his youth international debut for the Republic of Ireland at Under-19 level in January 2022, in a 3-0 friendly win over Iceland, and a month later, he had a short spell with Chester of the National League North. He was again loaned out at the beginning of the 2022/23 season, this time to Oldham Athletic, and played nine times, scoring once.
