Bio
Competitive midfielder Gabriel Adebambo joined Stoke City in September 2020 from Irish club Dundalk.
Born in the Republic of Ireland, the athletic midfielder began his footballing journey at the Leixlip United academy in 2007 at the age of six and according to his youth coach, Adebambo always wanted to come and play in England. He would eventually make the switch with the Potters after a spell with Dundalk’s youth team.
Adebambo had impressed during his first season with City, becoming a key part of Kevin Russell’s side throughout the 2020/21 campaign before suffering a serious knee injury at the start of the following season which ruled him out of action for just over year.
Adebambo eventually returned from injury and has gone from strength to strength since, even earning himself a place on the bench for the first team’s home match against Huddersfield Town in February 2023.
The former Ireland youth international is athletic, powerful, and loves to get stuck into physical battles with opposition players. Adebambo has also shown great versatility at times by playing as a left-sided centre-back in a back five and as a left-back in a back four.
