Grandson of legendary former Potters manager Lou Macari, Lewis is a product of the club’s youth system and graduated into the Under-18s in July 2018. He made his competitive debut away to Manchester United a month later, going on to play 18 times at that level throughout the remainder of the season, as well as making his Under-21s bow off the bench against Newcastle United in April 2019.

Alongside his development with the Potters, Macari has also spent time out on loan. He first headed to Shropshire-based Northern Premier League Division One West outfit Market Drayton Town for the final third of the 2018/19 season, and more recently, joined Dundalk in the League of Ireland for the 2022 season. Macari has since made his first-team debut with a five-minute cameo in an FA Cup third round clash away to Hartlepool United.
