Stoke City’s U23s will be aiming to make a winning start to their Premier League Cup group stage campaign tomorrow afternoon when they make the long trip to Southampton.
The Potters advanced through to the knockout stages of the competition for the first time last season and will want to go even further this time around following a strong start to the campaign.
Kevin Russell’s side have picked up an impressive 16 points from a possible 21 this term in Premier League 2 which has included five victories, four of which have been picked up in their last four clashes.
Their most recent Division 2 encounter saw the side easily brush aside Reading, recording a 4-0 victory thanks to goals from Jake Dunwoody, Julien Ngoy, Daniel Jarvis and Gabriel Kyeremateng.
The Saints head into tomorrow’s tie meanwhile with just two wins from their opening seven games as they acclimatise to Division 1 following promotion last season, however did collect all three points against Wolverhampton Wanderers last time out.
