On this day in 1963, Real Madrid visited the Victoria Ground to take part in an iconic exhibition match to mark Stoke City’s centenary.
It was 100 years since the club’s formation in 1863 and over 44,000 supporters packed into the ground to see the Potters face the European giants.
Tony Waddington’s side put in a superb display to hold a Madrid side, which included legendary forwards Alfredo Di Stéfano and Ferenc Puskás, to a 2-2 draw.
