- Women kick-off FA Cup campaign this weekend
- First round tie to take place on Sunday (kick-off 1pm)
- Free entry at Emerys Stadium (Community Drive, ST6 1TF)
Ahead of Stoke City’s opening tie in the Women’s FA Cup against Doncaster Rovers Belles, forward Roisin Kivel has spoken of her eagerness to see a sizeable backing for her side at the Emerys Stadium.
The Potters will take on the National League Division One Midlands outfit for a place in the second round proper, and entry to Sunday's game (kick-off 1pm) will be free, with spectators asked to only make a voluntary donation on the gate.
“Getting a load of fans down would be a good opportunity to showcase where we are as a team, and hopefully prove how good we are too,” Kivel told stokecityfc.com.
“The FA Cup means a lot to us as a club, and to me as a player. I think there is something really special about having a good cup run.
“Doncaster are doing well in the league they’re in, so it will be a tough test. We just have to turn up on the day, show why we are a league above, and hopefully win the game!”
In addition to the first team’s hosting of Doncaster, the reserves will also be in action, as they travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Women’s National League Reserves Cup.
In advance of that tie, reserves head coach Tom Pond said: “We’re really looking forward to playing this weekend in the cup.
“We’ve identified having a good run and success in the cup as a target alongside a strong league campaign. It’ll be a tough game but after picking up three points against Leicester last week, we have got momentum.”
That clash will also take place on Sunday 14th November, with kick-off at the Sir Jack Hayward Training Ground (Douglas Turner Way, WV3 9BF) scheduled for 3pm. Spectators are permitted to attend.
