  • Potters beaten 1-0 in ST4
  • Adomah nets game's only goal
  • Season ends at Watford on May 8

Stoke City signed off their home campaign with a 1-0 loss to Queens Park Rangers.

Albert Adomah netted the only goal of the game minutes into the second half at the bet365 Stadium.

The Potters will bring the curtain down on the Championship season away to Watford a week on Monday.

QPR fashioned the first chance of note during a quiet first half when Jamal Lowe received the ball on the edge of the area and drilled a low drive into the grateful gloves of Jack Bonham.

Down at the other end the Potters manoeuvred themselves into attacking positions on several occasions but were unable to find a killer cross or pass to punish their opponents.

As the half drew to a close, Connor Taylor latched onto a corner from Will Smallbone, directing a looping header onto the crossbar before the referee blew for an infringement in the build-up.

After a quiet first 45, the visitors took the lead minutes into the second. Lyndon Dykes saw a shot from range saved by Bonham before the ball rebound kindly into the path of Adomah, who fired a shot in off the far post.

Alex Neil turned to his bench moments later in the hope of finding an equaliser, introducing Ki-Jana Hoever and Nick Powell in place of Taylor and Dwight Gayle.

Seny Dieng came to the visitors’ rescue with 16 minutes remaining as he parried Josh Laurent’s stabbed attempt before getting his body in the way of Tyrese Campbell’s follow up.

Bonham ensured the home side had a chance of taking something from the contest heading into the final 10 minutes when he flung out an arm to prevent Lowe flicking in Chris Martin’s knock down.

Josh Tymon thought he had claimed a point for City with normal time almost up, however Dieng managed to push away the wing-back’s left-footed drive which looked destined for the far corner.
