Bio
Frank Fielding is an experienced goalkeeper who has made Stoke City the ninth club he has represented across a 14-year-long senior career in which he has racked up more than 360 appearances.
Born in Burnley, his footballing origins in fact lie in the academy of his hometown’s closest and biggest rival, Blackburn Rovers, and he graduated into the first-team picture at Ewood Park in 2007.
Despite spending four seasons on the books at Blackburn, he never actually made a single appearance for the club, and was instead repeatedly loaned out, to a total of five different clubs.
His first spell took him south to Wycombe Wanderers, where he nailed down the number one jersey and made 39 starts for the Chairboys throughout the 2007/08 campaign.
Next up was a spell at Northampton Town for the first half of the following season, before he returned to Lancashire to join Rochdale until the campaign’s end.
He then crossed the Pennines and linked up with Leeds United, but after being unsuccessful in breaking into the first team, he returned to Rochdale for the remainder of the season.
A final loan spell then saw him link up with Derby County for 2010/11, and after a campaign which saw him share the number one jersey with Stephen Bywater, he joined the Rams permanently for a fee of £350,000.
Two seasons at Pride Park followed, in which he made 80 appearances, before he headed to Bristol City for an undisclosed fee in 2013, going on to spend six seasons at Ashton Gate and start a further 181 games.
His most recent side were Millwall, whom he joined on a free in 2019, but after playing just three games in two years, he was released this summer, and has since been a free agent prior to his move to the Potteries.
